Beginnings
On Sunday 19th April 1998, the following foundation members of the club (Dori Durisotti, John Horsburgh, Ron Turner, Dick McKean and Jack Stocks and Cassie Durisotti) met at Dori’s home along with some wives to share their interest in woodcraft and inability to find suitable times to attend other clubs.
The group decided to form a club in Caboolture.
Another meeting followed, then on 17th May 1998, about 32 people met at Dick McKean’s house and decided to form a committee. The meetings were to take place on Sundays and would be a chance to discuss the club’s future direction and organize demonstrations in various aspects of wood crafting.
Incorporation
2nd June 1998, the club met in a classroom at 14 Carlisle St Morayfield. 37 were present, including the Mayor who realized that people were serious about having a successful club. Incorporation was discussed.
23rd June 1998, formal application was made for the club to be incorporated.
15th July 1998, the club was incorporated under the association Incorporation Act 1981 and the club was to be called
"THE CABOOLTURE AND DISTRICT WOODCRAFTERS INCORPORATED."
The aim of the association was to “promote, foster and practice the art of wood crafting and all forms of woodworking.”
